Year 5

Welcome to Year 5 class page.

It is here that you can access information regarding your child's learning.

Detailed Curriculum outlines will also be uploaded each half-term so you can see which aspects your child will be studying over the following term.

Reading, is of the utmost importance for children. As the skill of reading develops, your child will become more confident, extend their own vocabulary and gain more understanding of the texts shared. We encourage home reading at least four times a week and for you to discuss characters, plots and the story overview so that you gain an insight of the level and challenge of the text your child is reading.

Homework:

As of January, there will be homework set for children in year 5. Homework will be set on a Friday and is expected back in by the following Friday, ready for the new homework to be given out.

The children will be expected to complete the following:

- Weekly Spelling

- Reading throughout the week with at least x4 marked in their Reading Record.

- A session on TTRS that will be set weekly (children can do more than this if they choose)

- 1 Sheet of maths work per week

OPTIONAL: If children would like to complete any more tasks at home, there will be a sheet filled with project-based tasks that they can complete if they choose. This will be given at the start of each term.

Weekly Spellings
