Art in ancient Benin 🎨
Our first creative unit this year was a study of ancient Benin sculpture. We investigated the representation and symbolism of animals. Our key skills this term were to produce accurate drawings from observation, learn how to shape, form and construct 3D representations from clay and to use appropriate joining methods.
We had a lot of fun designing our own sculptures before we got to compare them with the real artefacts in the British Museum later in the term!
